ABOUT

What does it take to make a storyteller?

One of R.J. Post’s earliest memories is that of copying newspaper comic strips with his watercolor set and delivering the pictures to doorsteps in his Elyria, Ohio, neighborhood. All of that was before he could even read and write!

He graduated to delivering actual newspapers — and reading much of them along the way — before he finished elementary school. In high school, he wrote short stories and newspaper articles. He went on to earn an Associate of Arts from Dodge City Community College and a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, KS.

R.J. worked as a reporter, editor and manager at newspapers in Kansas and Nebraska for 31 years and is proud to say that printer’s ink still runs through his veins. He now works as a copywriter and digital content creator for a marketing agency.

He has had short stories published on the Saturday Evening Post’s website and in the Nebraska Writers Guild’s “Flashes From the Plains: A Flash Fiction Collection.” “Lion Taming, Dating and Other Dangerous Endeavors,” a collection of short stories, is his first book. He enjoys used-book shops, vinyl records, marching bands and dysfunctional love songs. R.J. lives in Grand Island, NE, with his wife, Susan. They have three grown daughters.
